What it is

Laser vein removal uses targeted energy that’s selectively absorbed by hemoglobin - the protein that gives blood its red color. The vessel walls heat up, collapse, and the body reabsorbs the treated vein over the following weeks. Blood reroutes through deeper, healthy veins.

This works on spider veins, reticular veins, and small varicose veins. We treat legs, face, chest, hands, and anywhere else visible veins bother you. The surrounding tissue is largely unaffected - it’s a precise, targeted approach with no injections or incisions.

Our Cherry Creek clinic at 36 Steele St, Suite 100 serves laser vein removal patients from across Denver - including nearby Cherry Creek North, Country Club, Congress Park, Belcaro, Hilltop, and Hale, as well as Capitol Hill, Washington Park, and the broader Denver metro. Most clients can reach us within a 10-minute drive. Our Steele Street location sits across from the Cherry Creek Shopping Center in the heart of Cherry Creek North.

Many clients weigh related options like CO2 Laser Resurfacing and IPL. For dosing, longevity, and aftercare in depth, see our Laser Vein Removal.

What to expect

Sessions take 15 to 45 minutes. You’ll feel quick, warm snapping sensations as the laser fires. Treated veins may look darker or slightly raised immediately after, with mild redness and swelling that resolves in a few days.

Over 2 to 4 weeks, treated veins gradually fade. Smaller spider veins often clear in one session; larger veins may need 2 to 4 treatments. Avoid hot baths and intense exercise for 48 hours after. Compression stockings for leg veins as directed.

Service FAQs

If you don't see your question, just reach out

Is there downtime after laser vein removal?

There's minimal downtime. You may have slight redness or swelling in the treated area for a day or two. Some patients develop light bruising that fades within a week. You should avoid intense exercise and hot baths for 24 to 48 hours and wear compression garments if treating leg veins.

What areas can be treated with laser vein removal?

We commonly treat spider veins and small visible veins on the face, legs, and chest. Facial veins around the nose and cheeks respond particularly well. For larger varicose veins, your provider may recommend a combination approach or refer you to a vascular specialist.

How many sessions does laser vein removal take?

Smaller spider veins may clear in one to two sessions, while larger or more extensive veins can require three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Your provider will map out a treatment plan based on the size, depth, and distribution of your veins.

How does laser vein removal work?

The laser delivers focused light energy that's absorbed by the hemoglobin in visible veins, heating and collapsing the vessel walls. Over the following weeks, your body naturally reabsorbs the treated veins, and blood flow redirects through healthier, deeper vessels. The veins fade and eventually disappear.

Will treated veins come back?

Once successfully treated, those specific veins are gone permanently - your body reabsorbs them completely. However, new veins can develop over time due to genetics, hormones, aging, or lifestyle factors. Periodic maintenance treatments can address any new veins as they appear.

Are there any side effects or risks with laser vein removal?

Side effects are minimal and temporary, including mild redness, slight swelling, or minor discomfort. Very rarely, temporary skin discoloration or slight scarring can occur. Serious complications are exceptionally rare with experienced practitioners.

Can laser vein removal treat all types of veins?

Laser vein removal is most effective for spider veins and smaller varicose veins (less than 3mm). It works by heating the vein until it collapses and is reabsorbed by the body. Larger varicose veins may require other treatments like sclerotherapy or endovenous ablation. During consultation, we assess your veins to determine if laser is ideal or if combination therapy would produce better results for your specific vein pattern and severity.

What should I avoid before and after laser vein treatment?

Before treatment, avoid sun exposure for 2-4 weeks to minimize skin irritation risk. Avoid blood thinners like aspirin and ibuprofen for 48 hours before and after treatment, and avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours as it increases bruising risk. After treatment, protect the area from sun with SPF 30+ sunscreen, avoid hot baths/saunas and intense exercise for 24-48 hours, and wear compression stockings if recommended.

What is the recovery time after laser vein removal?

Laser vein removal has minimal downtime. You may experience mild redness, slight swelling, or temporary bruising that resolves within days. Most patients return to normal activities immediately. Wear compression stockings for a few days to support healing.
